State Artistes Shine at Madras

December is the season for a series of festivals of music, dance, drama and other cultural activities in Madras.  But four institutions hold the fort for public attention. The Music Academy, The Indian Fine Arts Society, the Tamil Isai Sangam and the Sri Krishna Gana Sabha arrange the most attractive programmes, both quantitatively and qualitatively.  However, the Music Academy has a prestige that makes the programmes the focus of public recognition, though the results are not always the best.
